How to Build Your Holiday Perfume Assortment from the Top 100

A holiday order is not a list of favorites: it is an assortment with a core that sells, categories for every customer, gift options and a little novelty.

A good holiday perfume assortment is built in layers: a core of perfumes that already sell, taken from our platform’s Top 100; categories that cover every type of customer; options for people buying gifts; and a small share of new items. That way you reach Black Friday and December with what sells and no money sleeping on the shelf.

Shoppex Corp is a wholesale distributor of original perfumes with a warehouse in Doral, Miami, selling to stores and resellers in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. These are the five steps we recommend to build yours.

Key takeaways

  • Start with the core: the Top 100 perfumes you already sell or your customers ask for.
  • Cover every customer: Arabic houses, designer and niche, for women, men and unisex.
  • Add gift options: 5 and 10 ml minis, testers and seasonal gift sets.
  • Order based on what you sold, not on what you would like to sell, and leave room to restock.
  • Bring it all into one order: from $2,500 your whole order moves to a better price and earns Shoppex Rewards.

Step 1

Set aside the core of your perfume assortment

Open the Top Sellers filter on our wholesale platform, which is our Top 100, and mark what you already sell or what your customers ask for by name. That is the core: the lowest-risk part of a season in which shoppers buy fast and prefer what they know.

The core doesn’t have to be huge. A few well-stocked references beat many with one or two units each: the customer who comes in for a perfume they already know expects to find it.

Step 2

Cover every customer with their category

A balanced perfume assortment speaks to more than one type of customer. Make sure you have something from each group:

Arabic houses

Intense perfumes at good prices and in high demand across the region, such as Lattafa, Armaf, Afnan and Bharara.

Designer

The classics people give without thinking twice, such as Carolina Herrera, Versace or Paco Rabanne.

Niche

For the customer who wants something different and pays more for it, with houses such as Parfums de Marly or Initio.

Within each group, also think about who it is for: women, men and unisex. And if there is demand for niche perfumes in your area, we explain how to capture customers looking for niche perfumes.

Step 3

Add gift options

In December, a good share of shoppers are looking for a gift. According to Circana, about one in five US consumers bought fragrance as a holiday gift in 2024, and prestige gift sets have historically made up over 25% of prestige fragrance sales in the fourth quarter. Minis and body sprays are also popular as affordable gifts.

  • 5 and 10 ml minis: small gifts, add-ons to a purchase and a way for customers to try a scent. On the platform they have their own filter, Mini Perfume, and here is our wholesale mini perfumes page.
  • 30, 50 and 100 ml testers: they also have their own filter on the platform, Perfume Tester.
  • Gift sets: brands release seasonal editions; when they are in the catalog, they are the ready-to-give option.

Step 4

Work out how much to order of each

Your own history is the best guide: how many units of each perfume you sold last season and how long it took to sell them. If a perfume sold out in December, order more; if it sat on the shelf until January, order less or skip it.

If you have no history, start with a little of each reference and restock what moves. The minimum per product is 2 units on Fast Shipping and 6 on Back Order, and you can combine both in the same order. Fast Shipping items are ready in 1 to 3 business days from payment, and Back Order items in 5 to 7.

Good to know: add your country’s transit and customs time, which your courier or freight forwarder will confirm. Sales are ex works: they pick up the order at our warehouse in Doral.

Step 5

Bring it all into one order

Your price depends on the order total, not on each product, so it pays to bring the season’s assortment into a single order:

From

$1,000

Our entry price level.

From

$2,500

Your whole order moves to a better price level and earns Shoppex Rewards.

From

$10,000

Our best price level.

Shoppex Rewards gives you back 0.5% of the full-price merchandise on orders from $2,500 to $9,999, and 1% from $10,000, to pay for DEAL products later on. We explain it in a new way to buy at Shoppex.

Check your perfume assortment before sending the order

Before you send it, go over the order with these questions:

  1. Does it have the Top 100 core you know you sell?
  2. Does it cover your women’s, men’s and unisex customers, and those looking for Arabic, designer or niche perfumes?
  3. Is there something to give as a gift at different budgets, from a mini to a set?
  4. Does it reach the price level you are aiming for, or are you close to the next one?
  5. Do you know when your courier or freight forwarder will pick it up?

When you send the order you don’t pay yet: the stock is reserved for 48 to 72 hours, our team confirms availability and you receive the sales order to pay. The platform’s stock updates roughly every two hours, so what you see while building the order is very close to what is available.

Three mistakes to avoid

  • Filling the order with new items. New perfumes sell once people know them; in season, keep them a small share. We already looked at whether it is worth investing in every viral perfume.
  • Putting everything into one perfume. If that one doesn’t move, your season goes with it.
  • Leaving the order for the last week. Preparation, transit and customs take days, and what sells most is the first thing to sell out.

Frequently asked questions

What is a perfume assortment?

The selection of perfumes you have for sale: how many references, from which categories and how many units of each.

How much of the order should come from the Top 100?

There is no fixed number: it depends on your store. The prudent approach in season is for the core to be what already sells and for new items to be a small share.

Can I combine Fast Shipping and Back Order in the same order?

Yes, and both count toward the $1,000 minimum. Fast Shipping items are ready in 1 to 3 business days from payment, and Back Order items in 5 to 7.

Do you sell minis and testers wholesale?

Yes: 5 and 10 ml minis and 30, 50 and 100 ml testers, at wholesale prices, each with its own filter on the platform.

What is the minimum per product?

From 2 units on Fast Shipping and from 6 on Back Order. The whole order starts at $1,000.
